Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
I would like to take the time to welcome you to the fifth grade! My name s Rosa Anderson and I will be the fifth-grade teacher this year at Our Lady of the holy Rosary School. I am eager to begin another great year at an excellent school!
Fifth grade is a very important year. The curriculum is both challenging and exciting. When the school year begins please take time to review the student handbook as well as any forms that will be sent home. During the first couple of days of school, I will be highlighting the classroom procedures and expectations. Students are expected to be respectful, work hard, and do their best every day.
I am looking forward to meeting you at the open house on Wednesday September 4th at 6:30 -7:30 p.m. The first day of school is Monday August 19th.If you have any questions, comments, or concerns throughout the school year please call the school office (818)765-9748 or email me at [email protected]. Vision
In order to fulfill the mission statement, O.L.H.R provides a caring environment that nurtures Christian values
by having the Eucharist as the center of our lives. Parents, who are primary educators of their children, work
in partnership with teachers and staff to build strong and responsible citizens. Our daily instructions provide
O.L.H.R. students with the opportunity to acknowledge their self- worth and value physically and intellectually.
Discipline Policy
In order to create an atmosphere of love and respect for all members of the school, self-direction and self-discipline are vital parts of our school program. Each member of the community is expected to assume full responsibility for his or her own actions.
Outstanding Crusaders Behavior
All students are expected to :
* Be respectful and accepting of others.
* Be honest.
* Be willing to cooperate with others.
* Be safe in and out of the classroom.
* Be responsible , prepared, and ready for class.
* Be on time to school and scheduled classes.
* Be diligent to complete class and homework assignments.
* Be proud and wear uniform properly.
Positive Reinforcements
To reward positive behavior and parents' participation, children, will have different opportunities to earn "Free Dress" and /or "Outstanding Crusader" tickets, that he/she will be able to redeem for special treats such as out of uniform, free snack, no homework, extra recess, lunch with principal. ice cream at Baskin Robins', etc.
Some ways students may earn a "Free Dress" pass are by earning Trimester Honor Roll or Outstanding Crusader of the Month Awards, attending Sunday Family Mass in complete formal uniform , parent attendance of P.T.S.C. meetings, at the teacher's discretion, etc.
Some of the ways children may earn "Caught Being Good" tickets are , but not limited to ; cleaning the yard without being asked, behaving in class, going above and beyond what is expected , etc.
When a student chooses not to meet one or more of the expectations, one or more of the following consequences may apply:
* Conference with student
* Call/ Conference parents.
* Additional Christian service hours.
* Work at lunch to make up assignments not done.
* Cleaning.
* Acts of kindness.
* Write a reflection
Uniform Code
5th Grade to 8th Grade ( Regular Uniform)
Girls must wear blue plaid skirt knee length , white undershirt, white or blue girls' polo shirt, navy blue v-neck sweater and school jacket with the school emblem, navy blue knee-high socks and black "Mary Jane" shoes.
5th Grade (Formal Uniform)
Girls must wear blue plaid skirt , knee length, short-sleeve baby blue pointy collar button down blouse (oxford) with white undershirt , and tie; v-neck sweater and school jackets with the school emblem,navy blue knee-high socks and black : Mary Jane " shoes.
Boys 5th Grade (Regular Uniform)
grey pants or shorts, white or navy polo shirt with sport collar and school emblem, white t-shirt underneath ; Navy blue v-neck sweater with the school emblem, school jacket, white crew socks, black school shoes with black laces and black belt. Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
Boys 5th Grade (Formal Uniform)
Must wear tie , grey pants, short white sleeve button -down shirt and school navy tie, white crew socks , and dressy black shoes, and v-neck sweater if cold.
No other jackets will be permitted for students to wear. So make sure we all have our school jackets. ...Please label all clothing that students may remove during the day,
